From Club E to Whiskey River!

Dressed in jeans, T-shirt and baseball cap, Dale Jr. welcomed fans and reports to the grand opening of his bar, Whiskey River. Located across the street from Charlotte’s downtown arena, the staircase is just off the street, complete with a sign “escalator and valet next week”. When the NASCAR Hall of Fame opens in 2010, it will be just a few blocks away.

“I think it’s a bit of southern gentleman and a little bit of Carolina country,” says Dale Jr. “ It just sort of fits the surrounding landscape.” The bar sports a 1200 s.f. stage, 1500 s.f. dance floor, flat screen TVs, a kitchen that is close to operational, and 3 bars, one of which circles the mechanical bull. Orange wall logos and an orange bench in the VIP room confirm Dale Jr.’s favorite color.

Critics thinking that this is a distraction for the newest Hendricks driver, relax. Bob Durkin of the Bar Management Group, is running the bar. Dale Jr. can kick back & relax when he’s not driving the wheels off the 88 National Guard Chevy!
