Pit strategy put Dale Jr. in the lead for 146 of the 500 laps, but slow pit stops plagued him all day. He was in 7th, with 90 laps left, when the final green flag fell, and drove hard for the win. “I should have been more patient, but I just burned it up so we didn’t get the finish we could have or needed to have. We got a good finish,” Dale Jr. said after his 6th place finish at Martinsville Speedway Sunday. But with such consistent finishes, it won’t be long before he’s back in victory lane!
